How to: Create a mixed reference in a formula.
Solution:
Display the formula to be edited. Type a dollar sign ($) at the appropriate place to create a mixed reference.
NOTE: Mixed references can be used if either the row or the column should stay fixed when copied.
1) Select the cell where the formula is located.
2) Press F2 to display the formula.
3) Place the insertion point at the reference to be edited.
4) Type a dollar sign ($) at the appropriate place.
NOTE: The user can also press F4 to cycle through reference types until the desired mixed reference type is displayed. Pressing F4 changes reference types from relative, to absolute, then to mixed.
EXAMPLE: An example of relative reference is C4. An example of absolute reference is $C$4. An example of mixed reference is $C4 or C$4.
